Indonesia government through Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fishery (MMAF) and SMART-Fish Indonesia already identified that marketing is one of the key issues to develop fishery industry of the country. Meanwhile domestic fish consumption per capita is still low, Indonesia is also struggling to compete in global market. Therefore, MMAF and SMART-Fish Indonesia organize a workshop on marketing communication for seafood and seaweed.
Productivity and traceability are two important things that are needed to compete in global market. Last year, SMART-Fish Indonesia already introduced a tool to measure those factors: the INSPIRED tool. But the progress of our three pilots were not so good, there are several obstacles that hold them to utilize the tool. Now, our traceability expert – Dr. Heiner Lehr came to Indonesia again to learn the situation and develop and modify the INSPIRED into workable tool.
Twenty five (25) participants from various department under the MMAF, attended 1-day workshop to discuss the draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for: Least Cost Formulation for the Small Scale Production of Feed for Pangasius and Productive Method for Farming Gracilaria and Cottonii. The workshop was facilitated by SMART-Fish experts namely Imza Hermawan, Nur Bambang Priyo Utomo and Jana Anggadiredja.
