Marketing Communication: Powerful Tool to Elevate Fishery Products

Indonesia government through Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fishery (MMAF) and SMART-Fish Indonesia already identified that marketing is one of the key issues to develop fishery industry of the country. Meanwhile domestic fish consumption per capita is still low, Indonesia is also struggling to compete in global market. Therefore, MMAF and SMART-Fish Indonesia organize a workshop on marketing communication for seafood and seaweed.
INSPIRed Light: Effort to Boost Productivity and Traceability

Productivity and traceability are two important things that are needed to compete in global market. Last year, SMART-Fish Indonesia already introduced a tool to measure those factors: the INSPIRED tool. But the progress of our three pilots were not so good, there are several obstacles that hold them to utilize the tool. Now, our traceability expert – Dr. Heiner Lehr came to Indonesia again to learn the situation and develop and modify the INSPIRED into workable tool.
Workshop to Establish Standard Operating Procedures on Least Cost Formulation

Twenty five (25) participants from various department under the MMAF, attended 1-day workshop to discuss the draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for: Least Cost Formulation for the Small Scale Production of Feed for Pangasius and Productive Method for Farming Gracilaria and Cottonii. The workshop was facilitated by SMART-Fish experts namely Imza Hermawan, Nur Bambang Priyo Utomo and Jana Anggadiredja.

Seaweed – The New Prima Donna

It’s been a very busy week for seaweed development in Indonesia on the second week of August 2017. We had lots of significant event in Makassar, South Sulawesi, during the 7th to 10th of August 2017 period. For starter, we had Seaweed Scientific Meeting on the 7th of August 2017. Attended by more than 100 delegates from seaweed companies and associations, ministries, researchers as well as from universities – the meeting was opened by keynote speeches from Deputy Minister of Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs – Agung Kuswandono, and Ines Rahmania from Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fishery (MMAF). SMART-Fish Indonesia brought down an international expert from CEVA (France) – Dr Ronan Pierre to present scientific papers on seaweed product development and innovation.
